Bookmaker Coral has slashed the odds on this being the hottest on record in the UK into 3-1 from the previous 5-1.
Coral’s John Hill said: “The odds suggest temperatures are likely to exceed 32C (86F) next week in the UK.
“We have also seen a flurry of bets for this summer being the hottest on record.”
After a stormy weekend the hot weather is set to make its return to Britain with temperatures expected to peak at 32C in the middle of the week.
The Met Office predicts the wind to die down tomorrow with showers becoming less widespread.
Rain is predicted for the beginning of the week, however more frequent sunny intervals are expected, before balmy weather takes over the country.
