At least six children have been killed after their school bus crashed into a lorry.
Three others, including the driver of the minibus, were injured, although their condition is not thought to be serious.
Eight youngsters escaped unharmed after the crash, which occurred at around 7.15am near La Rochelle, western France.
The bus was transporting around 17 or 18 people between Oléron and Surgères when it collided with a HGV carrying rubble, according to reports.
It comes less than 24 hours after two school children were killed and seven were injured when their bus overturned in snowy conditions in Doubs, south east France.
