NHS patients have been evacuated from a hospital amid fears of a bomb on site.
Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust confirmed the partial evacuation of its Chapel Allerton facility.
On Twitter, the trust attributed the alert to a “suspicious package” and said some patients and staff were evacuated.
Images from the scene show police vehicles crowding the surrounding streets and crowds of people waiting outside the hospital.
One local, posting a photograph from the scene, said the bomb squad were en-route to the West Yorkshire hospital.
Another local, Laura Buckley, tweeted that patients had been told their appointments would be rescheduled.
West Yorkshire Police said it was alerted to a suspicious package in the hospital toilets at 2.57pm.
“A cordon has been put in place and the hospital has carried out a partial evacuation,” a statement said.
