September will get off to a blistering start, with temperatures set to tip 30C this week.
Families planning bank holiday BBQ today will get a blaze of sun while tens of thousands will hit the beaches all round the country after a wet but warm two days.
Forecasters are predicting temperatures in the mid 20s and reckon it is the start of a fresh heatwave.
By Friday we will see highs of 28C and experts say it could top 30C.
James Madden, forecaster for Exacta Weather, said: “We expect a warm to hot weather pattern to end the meteorological summer and to begin the meteorological autumn this week. This will bring consistent temperatures in at least the mid 20Cs in parts of the south and 30C or more isn’t out of the question.”
