EastEnders has waved goodbye to Linda Carter following the devastating news that her mum Elaine has suffered a stroke. Linda received a very upsetting phone call informing her of the news in the BBC soap’s Christmas Eve episode, throwing the Carter family’s plans for the festive season into turmoil.
The final night of the Walford Christmas show was well under way when Linda’s mobile phone rang backstage, telling her that her mum’s health had taken a worrying turn for the worse out in Spain. Linda knew she had to rush off immediately to be with her mother, while her son Johnny agreed to go with her too, leaving Mick to hold the fort at the Queen Vic over the holidays.
EastEnders fans have been expecting a temporary exit for Linda following Kellie Bright’s real-life pregnancy news. It seems that Elaine’s stroke will now be used to explain why Linda disappears from our screens for a while, although she and Johnny are both credited for tomorrow’s hour-long Christmas episode so may well appear somewhere along the line.
