BRITAIN is being battered by high winds of up to 90mph today as Storm Henry sweeps over the north.
Forecasters have warned the powerful storm will cause towering waves which may lead to more flooding, just days after areas deluged by Storm Desmond were left saturated again by the aftermath of Storm Jonas.
Heavy winds of 70 to 80mph have been predicted for much of the UK.
Surfers’ website magicseaweed.com has forecast waves as high as 48ft, with fresh flooding expected to affect roads and causeways in coastal areas.
Henry is the eighth storm of the season, and arrives after weekend snowfall followed a battering from Storm Gertrude on Friday.
