A letter written by Steve Irwin to his parents in which he called them his best friends has just been discovered by his dad.
The tragic adventurer died after a stingray attack in September 2006 but his dad Bob recently found a note from Steve in which he praised their parenting.
The 44 year old, who was known for his love of wildlife and daring stunts, wrote to his mum and dad, telling them how important they have been in building his happiness.
Bob only found the letter this year, in an unopened envelope which fell from a book during research for The Last Crocodile Hunter.
Steve wrote: “Probably one of the most unfortunate things in a ‘bloke’s life’ is that it takes over 30 years to realise how essential you have been to build my character, my ethics and, most importantly, my HAPPINESS.”
