A young child is among three people who were killed when a car was deliberately driven into pedestrians in Melbourne’s Bourke Street Mall, police say.
Police said they shot the 26-year-old driver, who was linked to an earlier stabbing in the city’s south, in the arm before he was arrested. He is under police guard in hospital.
A man and a woman, both in their 30s, and the child, were killed in different locations along Bourke St, Police Commissioner Graham Ashton said.
At least 24 people were injured with five understood to be in a critical condition.
